This was the second 2012 Christmas present, code name “Owl.”   I’m completely in love with this scarf.  If it was any color that I wear I don’t know if I could have given it away.  It’s absolutely gorgeous and completely my style.  I’m debating on if I should make myself one or not.

This is a great beginner’s lace project. Anyone who wants to start knitting lace work I would highly recommend this scarf.  The only confusing part, for an American reader, was that there were multiple terms for yarn overs depending on if the previous stitch was a knit or purl.  I ignored all that and just though of them all as yarn overs to make it easier.  It was quick and easy to block as well so it’s good all around.  I also recommend safety lines even for an experienced lace knitter on this one.  With so many yarn overs it’s a bit challenging to try to tink or rip back mistakes!

I used the same yarn as the Helix Scarf and I still have more left over! This is one big hank of lace yarn.  I still have enough that I could make another Helix Scarf if I wanted!  I’m not sure what to do with it.  I’ll have to remember if I ever buy madelinetosh again that I’d better have two good sized projects planned for it.

The scarf was for my sister Cindy, code name “Cobra,” who I told I would never make a scarf for.  This was back when I first started knitting and all I could think of was hours and hours of boring garter stitch scarf.  I didn’t think I would make it through a whole scarf and I probably still wouldn’t today.  Lace is another matter entirely!  She wore the scarf for three days straight so I’m pretty sure she likes it!
