It’s done!  My first “real” sized blanket and I finished it.  The mitered squares are done, the border is done, all the ends are weaved in, and pictures have been taken.  I’m done.  It may have taken over a year and around 150 hours of work, but I’m done.  Plus, I accomplished my original goal to regain some knitting ground!  I’ve regained most, if not all, of the skill I had before my knitting break.

I’ll be honest, this blanket has a lot of character.  By which I mean flaws, mistakes, or intended uniqueness.  Whatever you’d like to call them.  My gauge is all over the place on different parts of this blanket.  I ran out of yarn and have a few mismatching dye lots in there.  Two sides of the border are one dye lot and the other two are another, and yes you can tell!  One entire quarter I cast on with the wrong set of colors so that quarters didn’t line up with the rest as they should.  This was my first time doing mattress stitch and some places are a bit questionable.  But you know what, I like my blankets with character!

Inventory # 3 – Brava Yarn

Brava Inventory

I’ve been lazy.  I haven’t done any inventories in over six months.  If I’m being honest with myself I probably wouldn’t have done another one now except that I’ve been sick for the last two weeks.  There’s been no knitting since the Meisi Gloves. Since I have no interesting knitting to show I figured the least I could do was continue my much delayed organization.

For the first step to inventory my stash, here’s the Knit Pick’s Brava I’ve accumulated over the years.  My Ravelry Stash is updated including dye lots if I had the label.  I found 20 different Brava yarns which added up to almost 40 skeins.  To be fair around half of that is for my Hue Shift Afghan. But still!  How did I get that much?

I’ll just have to take comfort that now I’ll be able to check if I already have the Brava colors I need before I buy more!

Yarn Giveaway! – Closed

Suri Dream Giveaway

While working on my WIP inventory last week I found this stash of Knit Pick’s Suri Dream yarn (color: Grass).  I have eleven skeins I know I’m never going to use.  It was intended for a lap blanket for the couch many years ago but I personally didn’t end up liking the feel of the knitted yarn. So here are the rules for the giveaway!

  1.  The giveaway will run 6/1/2015 Noon through 6/14/2015 Midnight (US Central time)
  2. To enter leave a comment with your favorite yarn on this post. Comments on any other post will be ignored.
  3. For a second entry “like” my Facebook page or post. Be sure to include in your comment that you liked my Facebook (or add a second comment).
  4. At least 25 unique entries are required for the giveaway. Otherwise it will be canceled or rescheduled.
  5. The winner will be e-mailed and given 72 hours to reply with a mailing address.  After that a second winner will be chosen.

International entries are welcome.  Let all your friends know if you think they’d like this yarn.  Good luck everyone!

Knit Picks Goodies

Yesterday I found a package waiting for me; it was the Knit Picks goodies for the runner-up prize for Knit Pick’s Endless Summer Pinterest contest!

The prize includes:

  • Knit Happy Bright Bag
  • Knit Happy H2GO Water Bottle
  • Sunstruck Size 7 Interchangeable Needle Tips
  • Sunstruck Size 5 Interchangeable Needle Tips
  • Interchangeable Needle Cables
  • Worsted Brava Skein
  • Worsted Chroma Skein

I lucked out with all these choices.  I’ve been wanting to try the Brava line for some time.  The pink bag and purple water bottle are perfect together and the needle sizes they sent are the ones I would have bought myself.

I love everything they sent.  I can’t wait to try out these new needles, the Brava yarn, and show off my bright pink bag!

Knit Picks Endless Summer Contest Runner-Up!

Wow! Knit Pick’s announced the winners for it’s Endless Summer contest today and I was a runner-up winner!  I’m very excited and this was a fun contest.

I have to admit when I first got the e-mail I actually searched online to see if it was some kind of hoax.  Maybe someone had hacked the info for everyone who entered and sent us all an e-mail.  I’m not sure what it says about me that my first thought was that someone was playing a prank rather than that I was actually one of the winners =)

I want to thank my sister again.  If not for her blog with all her pins and for the fabulous red wine sangria she made in Florida I probably wouldn’t have been motivated enough to enter the contest.  She actually went into her computer’s recycle bin to pull out some pics of the wine for me.  I have a great family.

Here are the links to my board if you want to see the full version and the announcement for the other winners.  I loved that game of thrones board (even if for personal reasons I refuse to read more of that series until it’s complete). I will be sure to post pics when I get my prize goodies.  I can’t wait!  Thank you Knit Picks!!
