30 Days of Knitting Questions – Day 12

Continuing my posts from the tumblr account Crafts and Such that has a list of 30 knitting questions; one for each day.

Day 12: Where do you keep your stash? Post pictures!

When it comes to my stash that is how I know the real knitters from the pretend knitters.  How?  The real knitters are very distraught by how small my stash is.  The pretend knitters are also very distraught but instead by how large my stash is.

My friend, Laura, has an entire closet, or maybe even an entire room at this point for all of her yarn.  I have a book case.  In my living room. Only the top shelf is completely dedicated to yarn. The others are a mix of yarn, WIP, swatches, books, magazines, patterns, knitting supplies, etc.

If I put all the yarn together I would guess it takes up half the book case and my supplies take up the other half.  I will probably never touch half the yarn I already have.  I’m trying very hard not to let my stash get out of control but sometimes I just don’t like the yarn I thought I would.  Even more common the yarn I have is fine but that new yarn is just so much better.

In the section with doors I have my knitting needles, my yarn swift and ball winder, a few boxes of craft store yarn, misc small supplies, and one or two larger WIP that I haven’t worked on in a very long time.  I think I started a blanket only to find out I was allergic to the 10+ balls of yarn I bought for it.  This section is not nearly as organized as the top.

  1. This is sooo tidy I really want to come and check it out. My stash does share a closet with 5 Rubbermaid totes of Christmas gifts. But to be honest, I also have 2 LARGE Rubbermaid totes of yarn in the basement. And WIP in the bag to go back and forth to work, and the Master’s yarn in my room……my stash seems to grow exponentially by the year. But in my own defense I have finished lots of projects in the last 2 years. Probably by the encouragement and “yarn talk” with Leslie!

    🙂 Laura
