I’ve wanted to learn both fair isle and how to knit gloves for a while.  I decided both at once should be interesting so I bought this pattern from Knit Picks.  I really enjoyed knitting these and finished sooner than I would have otherwise.

Fair isle can be difficult to keep the tension even and I still really haven’t learned how to be consistent yet.  The first glove I had some tight floats but blocking will take care of the puckering.  The second glove I tried to knit a bit looser but I think it was actually worse. There are quite a few overly large stitches as a result and I don’t expect blocking to take care of these very well.  Plus the second glove ended up being a bit bigger than I wanted.

I like this pattern enough that I’m going to make a second pair for my sister for Christmas. That was always my intention but I wanted a trial pair first for myself.  Luckily I love the gloves so it works out for both of us =)

I have small hands so these gloves are a bit big for me. I did actually shorten the fingers quite a bit, as much as 5 sts shorter on the second glove for two of the fingers.  Unfortunately the palm area between my thumb and fingers is too large and the pattern is not easily modified to adjust for this.  I don’t think most people will have this issue, but the fingers are longer than usual if you have shorter fingers like me.  I may make myself another pair at some point and stick with the size 1 DPN instead of moving up to size 2.
